Volunteer Your Time and Talents at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning
After School Tutoring Program (September – April)
- Tutor a student (grades K-12) in reading, math, writing, or ESL
- Meet with the same student for one hour per week
- Tutor is matched with a student based on subject/grade level of interest, time availabilities, etc.
- One hour intake meeting and background check required before beginning program; further tutor training available later in the semester
- The tutoring program is available:
- Mondays-Thursdays 3-7 pm; Fridays 3-5 pm; Saturdays 10 am-2 pm
- Volunteer tutors must be at least 16 years of age
- One hour a week can make a difference in a child’s life!
Summer Tutoring Program (June – August)
- Tutor a small group of students (1-3 students in same grade/subject); grades available range from K-12
- Come in for a minimum of one set hour per week
- Tutor is matched with a small group of students based on subject/grade level of interest, time availabilities, etc. (students may vary from week to week)
- One hour intake meeting and background check required before beginning program; further tutor training available later in the semester
- Tutoring hours Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (email for complete schedule)
- Volunteer tutors must be at least 16 years of age
- One hour a week can make a difference in a child’s life!
Family Fun and Learning Nights (appx. one evening per month; 5:00-8:00 pm)
- Children and their families are invited to the Carnegie Center for an evening of crafts, activitis, games, raffle prizes, and free dinner!
- Volunteers will help with set-up, registration, running activity tables, serving dinner, and clean-up.
- One evening commitment. Great for individuals or groups!
Youth and Family Programs
- Early Learner Book Club: third Saturday of the month (10:30-11:30 am) ~ Assist with a group of 3-5 year olds – reading, making crafts, and eating snacks!
- ESL for Kids ~ Help kids in grades K-4 learn English in a hands-on learning environment!
- Math Mania/Multiplication Madness/Math Game Nights (class topic varies depending on season)
